Hello, this is my first post on this blog, and hopefully it will be useful for you!

As a summary, this is a tutorial for running Hackintosh on your device with an NVIDIA GPU using the NullMoth driver (we will cover everything from start to your first successful boot!). It will be a fun journey, I promise.

This tutorial assumes that you use Windows and have a separate SSD for the macOS installation.

ALERT: On AM5 motherboards, a mobo brick is possible. Read this Reddit post before installing.

This is a draft and will be updated from time to time.

1 - Getting Started

Prerequisites: a USB flash drive (not an external hard disk connected via USB), enough data allowance to download macOS (about 12-16 GB), and the disk you want to install macOS on.

  1. First, download nullmoth/1401; this tool configures OpenCore and prepares your USB for the next steps.
  2. Run it and follow the installer. It is very straightforward.
  3. Reboot and boot from USB.
  4. Choose Disk Utility and format the disk as APFS, then go back to the Recovery menu, click Reinstall macOS, and follow the steps to install macOS.
  5. The device will reboot. Boot from the USB again and select macOS Installer (it will load for about 30 minutes, then restart). Then boot from the USB again, and the installer should start.

Note: On Tahoe, the installer runs at 1-2 FPS, so use the keyboard to finish the installation. This issue does not exist on Sequoia.

Ok, we are here; your macOS desktop is ready. Yaaaaay!

Let’s install the driver.

2 - Installing the Driver

  1. Click the 1401 icon (the USB drive) on your desktop. (If nothing shows on the desktop, re-plug the USB or use a different port.)
  2. Go to the NullMoth folder and click on the 1401 zip file to extract the installer, then run it. If macOS says it is dangerous, allow it in Settings and continue.
  3. It will load for a second; choose Show me what will change, then it will let you install the driver. Install it and restart.

3 - Finishing the Installation

The basic install is finished. The steps below let you boot macOS without using the USB drive every time. If you’re fine with using the USB drive, you can safely skip them.

  1. Reboot into Windows and download Hasleo EasyUEFI and rEFInd.
  2. Follow this tutorial to install rEFInd. Then repeat the same steps, but this time copy the EFI folder from the USB drive and choose opencore.efi.

And we are finished!!!

Yay, this took some work. If you are here, then you should be proud that you did it successfully.

4 - Some Issues You May Run Into

(I will update this from time to time.)

Tahoe

  • Safari does not load videos correctly, Use Chrome instead.

Tahoe and Sequoia

  • No audio over HDMI/DisplayPort. Use external speakers, or try the emirercan3459/nullmoth-nvidia-audio driver, although it did not work for me.
  • I am facing graphics artifacts/glitches; sadly, this is normal. The driver is in an early stage.

Questions

(I will update this from time to time.)

I’m using an Intel CPU with P/E cores. Will performance be bad?

No, not at all. Geekbench reports better results than Windows on the same CPU (at least for me).
